Have you seen the new autoshift Detroit is making it may just be branded Detroit. Is sounds just like the Volvo ishift. I have friend with the Eaton autoshift it 6 year old and still works on his truck. I would think by now they got most of the bugs worked out. I want disc brakes too. Those are now and option

student in school who are arrogant is not relevant ~ 55,000 pounds @ 55 mph or a Level 5 inspection with a failed tail light and use of auto-matics ( or not ) is very relevant, you will get a few dispatchers who are arrogant but those "students at my school are so arrogant just because they know how to shift" are really, really a waste of time not only for you but here in the thread also

I dont think OP is going to understand your observation, be though it may centrally relevant and very correct, obviously as we know instructor is in recital of what told to say - probably from MVCAA - so (obiously) it would seem instructor would run a video showing driver fatigue to support the position but without that OP will not realize what is involved if he is worried about arrogance from mall-weasels

I'm not sure if I can agree with that anyways.
You have to pay more attention to driving since you also have to shift, that also leaves less time for other things that are distracting.

What are you talking about all that shifting.. I never shift.. In a day of delivering walmart freight in cities I may shift 25 times total..You need to listen to your instructor and stop complaining this industry will eat you a live..

Heck I don't even pay attention to the shifting anymore.. I just do it.. it is kind of ..................automatic. of course I can fix your problem too more fuel and patience and you will hit every gear it isn't a battering ram.. If you are grinding gears down shifting.. more fuel and hold it against the hole until it falls in you will feel it.. from 10 to 9 is the same as from 5 to 4 the problem is in the operator. stop thinking about it .. Nice avatar.

Put them in a truck with a 5X4 and see how arrogant they are when they are trying to get it unhung from between gears... And autos suck.

on US. I-70, west of Denver, CO climbing to Loveland Pass,.......I have seen two or three stuck there and I have only been there two or three times ..... I could just tell they were 5x4's from what I had heard about them, none of them had Mack Double Under so anyone who moans about autos should keep their Burger Bob's job in good shape

shifting becomes second nature.. i get up to speed and dont even remember shifting. honestly, auto trans makes the driver even lazier than most will already be. i drove one for 1 week, it was a rental truck when mine was in the shop. it wasnt worth a crap in the mountains, and i felt myself getting lazier, eating, drinking, and talking on the phone when i was leaving a stop light. you may think that not shifting will free up your mind to pay attention to more, but actually, it wont.
