Of course it depends on if I get through the first week of orientation though. That's the conditional part.
Why not drive a truck?

Because they will find out otherwise. Alot of trucking companies like to do their background checks after you get hired. Probably just to punish the dishonest folks by tarnishing their record and firing them. -
I seriously doubt if I could be a company driver. I don't think I could handle being told where to go and when to be there by someone on a qualcom.
I wish you the best of luck and encourage you to keep us abreast of your career but statistics say it won't last long. I predict you'll be gone in less than 2 years. Prove me wrong.Last edited: Jan 23, 2015

I think you'll find this is the most negative career possibly in the world. If you want to try it then try it. Nearly every trucker you speak to has walked up hill both ways for years and will almost beg you not to do it yet they still do it. If you love it great. If not there are other jobs out there.

Dinomite Thanks this.

That's just how these mega fleet companies roll...they're basically desperate for warm bodies and don't really care if you last 9 days, 9 months, or 9 decades. If they did they would do all their homework on you before they cut you loose in their equipment. Don't let them jive you otherwise. -
I would suggest though that you at least leave your mind open to counsel when it is offered.ScottM Thanks this.
