I had a driver kind enough to lay on his airhorn the other night while I was backing in next to a drop deck with a oversized load on it.

What I didn’t see in my mirrors was some foot long studs coming out of the bottom of the machinery being hauled about a foot off the ground.

Would have been a very expensive Screw up on my part if I had not stopped when he layed on the horn.

I started to move a little bit after I stopped immediately after the first honk. He than got all over it and I stopped and got out to see what I couldn’t see in my mirrors.

If I was the hauler I would have staggered the disconnected trailer in 2 spots.

But still my fault, I should have gotten out and looked.

Expensive lesson avoided unlike the one I cost my company a couple weeks ago with me backing into another trailer at a dairy in the dark and pouring blowing rain.
