I remember one of my best paying years back in 1989...I made 96k that year!
Now these young drivers today think these wages are ok......BS!
I'm still searching for one of those small mom and pop operations...
They are usually the best to work for but getting rare to find.
Since i lost my job pulling reefers i have been looking very hard.
Talked to a small company today that pulls end dumps. 12 bucks an hour! INSANE!!
I would love to find a good O/O to drive for.
Why not quit and get out?

My answer to the OP"s question is NO...I am sick of it...Although the first couple years were good,in that, seeing new places, new things was a great experience...now sadly, going almost anywhere in the country is like a 30 mile drive like when I am home...only longer of course...,and alot more B.S.......
I can understand how one can get "hooked" on some aspects of the job..the unexpected, the being in control (somewhat) or your destiny, the skill of winter driving, and along with that, the common sense also....and,as I have mentioned, the beauty of the country....Things that make it "easy" for me to walk away....lazy,incompetent company mechanics who, whether being told or not to "save" a buck on repairs,so they will not do them,so eventually I have to deal with it on the road..,the gov regs and DOT(ENOUGH SAID)and my favorite,-dispatchers and brokers who continuously, without end,try to bully, trick, and even bribe me to run out of control,18,19 hours a day..,-who are they kidding..?? If the worse was to happen, someone got killed when I was over hours, they would shrug and look at the next application, while I do how much time in the "Big House"? In fact, just now,I have a broker who wants a load of steel coils to be in Tulsa,Ok tomorrow...as I sit on I-70 in Effingham,ILL watching it rain and turn into a ice skating rink out there.....Of course,I told him to go ###k himself, but why should I have to do this, over and over, same ol ###t......Yes Sir,trkn for me will be easy to walk away from......Many GOOD things, but,MANY MANY Bad things also....Is it worth it?- For everyone, the answer is different................

Here's my take on OTR:
It's like a woman who gets verbally and mentally abused by her husband over 20 years. She just gets used to it and would not know how to live any other way. I hated it while I did it but after I went local I sort of missed it. You got your pros and cons like every other trade but after talking to so many drivers complaining about their child support and their second and third wife I figure it's not in my best interest. At least for now,got kids at home with my FIRST and only wife. -
AND,IMO,you know what to do...Kudos to you..
-
Psst... to all the old hands here. Can you believe these kids still haven't figured out how to make high-dollar income?
Dang, they's stoopid.
Aaaahh, don't worry about this post. These children are so #*%**-up they won't even believe it. Gots them a edge-you-kachun an don't know how to do Sheite. Dummer than rocks the lot of em.

Actually I got me a High School Edge a mu kation. Which is why I no longer build computers for fortune 500 companies. Some 22 year old kid got my job because he has a college degree. That is why I had to re-invent myself. Unfortunately you old school dogs don't like it. Think it's your GOD given right to be a TRUCKER. Unfortunately you guys tell so many trucker tales ( that means tell a lie) that nobody believes you.
-
BTW- What IS a high dollar income in LA? $38,000?
-
Yeah Man,The 1 place in the country I can feel and be "rich"
-
LMFAO!
It's true - a college degree is required for what most would consider 'entry level' positions these days.
