I think that's one of the best comments I've heard in a long time!

It depends on how much Saki you've drank. hahaha

They want to make sure you have past Slave experience and know that your life is all about sleeping and driving that truck. If you have local experience that's great for driving but they want to know you will live in that truck 7 days a week.bottomdumpin and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

There's a USA in Japan and a USA in China.
This makes it legal to put "Made in USA" on the labels.2duisperyear Thanks this. -
I had thank Ryder for his comment above about GPS's taking over. My first trainer was addicted to his and he kept doing a loop around some tiny town in Indiana whole time I am laughing and smiling thinking hr may be a trainer but he is a moron. I never used a GPS and drove in what I consider the worse areas for OTR drivers. Map books are the way to go. Do be dependable on something electronic we got along without forever.

GPS is a great tool but we still need to use our heads. I use a commercial GPS by Rand McNally. Sometimes they all make mysterious mistakes for which I have no explanation. I had one try and route me through a Cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood once when they first came out. If you don't stay ahead of such navigation and examine things ahead of time, sooner or later it will come back and bite you in the you know where. I call this "Cranium Rectal Inversion."
I have hauled some very long loads with piggybacks(up to 95') like the one below and got complacent with my trip planning skills one time. I ended up down a road that was very twisty. I'm talking having to grab all of the opposing lane in order to make the turn. The last truck does not track well at all and you need a lot of room. This is unacceptable when you cannot see if there is traffic coming. I made that mistake just last year and I've been out here for 35 years. I was angry at myself when I finally made it to the customer.

I think a lot of new drivers would not have a clue without their iphones, tablets, google earth etc. Lets go back to the day when there was a line for the truck stop payphones and you could tell your engine was running well by the color of the smoke out of the stacks. Now they complain if their truck doesn't have an APU to power the Keurig. Pusses.
akfisher Thanks this.
