Let's us just suppose for a minute, for some reason, the company you work for OR FCC PREVENTED everybody from running the outlaw and illegal amps. Everyone had a level playing field. Each radio had ONLY 4 watts. Your overall distance would INCREASE, your noise would DECREASE, the hash and trash would diminish. Ever wonder where, when conditions are just ROLLIN', all that SCREEEEEEEEEEEE, HOOOOOOOOOOWLLLLLL, ROOOOOAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRR was coming from? It is caused by YOURSELF!!!!:biggrin_25524: Your buddies who, thinking that *I* just HAVE to be the biggest, baddest radio hombre, slap on these splattering, dirty amplifiers and overmodulate to their hearts content. And not only are they yapping away fulfilling this deep-seated lack of a phallus, they are also causing noise (SCREEEEEEEE, HOOOOOOWLLLLL, ROOOOOOOOAAARRR!!!!!) as much as 10 channels away----even scratching, screeching, and hashing on the 10 and 12 Meter bands AND creating noise that other such users can't explain why they are having mysterious racket in THEIR sets! BUT, the key is *I*, *I*, *I*, *I* what *I* want is so much more important than anyone else on the planet.

Many years ago, I used to have an old Raytheon 5 channel CB I bought in a junk shop for 5 bucks. I lived in a rooming house at the ripe old age of 19. I put a back of set antenna from Radio Shack on the radio, and at night, I would sit on my bed and talk in a 10 mile radius of home. No amps, no "extra channels"----------------nothing but that old 1950's CB radio and I had a blast with it! The CB craze of the 70's brought with it the dirty, splattering amps, and extra channels (I am just so special, that the law doesn't apply to me so I have "right" to them channels, etc etc!)
The 80's brought the "ME, MYSELF, and I" syndrome. The combination of the two is what brought the derisive moniker to the CB "service' of "chicken band"! Unfortunately, it IS deserved I am afraid. With the advent of cell phones, computers, email, text messaging, the best thing that could happen to CB is for it to be "sunsetted". That is, given a date out of several years where 27 MHZ CB would no longer be allowed. Replacing it with much higher frequencies with FM and 25 watt transmitters would allow the trucking industry to do their jobs while removing the "skip", the amps, and the temptation to try to walk over each other----IOW, the "hobby" aspect that causes grief to other services. Something to think about!

Why don't you share with us this knowledge? Create a kit and start passing it out at the truckstop so we can talk around the world?

Traveling in any lane but the right lane is against the law unless your passing. Bet your Guilty.

I don't THINK I know everything, however, when I'm in Chicago and need local information, I need power to be able to get out over the B.S.

Yeah, people care, and they are enforcing the laws, as long as it's equitable to the enforcing party.

Take your nose outta the air.

What clown show did they kick you out of fella ?
You talk alot of smack about something of no interest to you.
What people choose as a hobby is none of your business
first off, secondly the "junk" you speak of has never been more refined like it is today.
(for some reason you reek of a ham-op)

I buy quality to get quantity to crack heads and lock down parking lots for past time entertainment.:biggrin_25523:
Nothing funnier IMO then locking down 200+ Cobra radio's with the flip of two switches, clicking the key lock on the D104 and going inside for a soda :biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559::biggrin_2559:

    :biggrin_25514:

    MY ENTERTAINMENT !
I have just as much fun talking to hams on the other short channels using very little power.
Its my hobby thats Incorporated into my career.

    now run along back to your ham bones . . . . . .

With 1000 watts you can talk a long way, but it only taes 4 watts to plug your ears.
