Why three stacks?

    Hey I like the Columbia's with the side stacks and air horns on top lol. I hate stacks behind the sleeper.

    Well havent seen an example of what is shown but, I do know for a fact years ago, with the jimmys we ran 4 stack units. One set ran through the muffler the others were crossover through a shutter valve to bypass the muffler. Jimmys were 2 stroke, you got better burn on your fuel running straight, but when near a town switched back through the muffler. Fewer noise violations that way. In the mountains ran straight and when you hit your jake every moose for miles knew you were there. God I miss the old 871's and 892's

    As for what RickG had to say....not too far fetched. California is now requiring that all apu's exhaust be vented to the upward as does the engine exhaust. I drove an older T2000 retired from STEVENS that had the exhaust vented out the rear on the passenger side by the front drive axle. California made us change that to a stack that vented upward.

    Who would have thunk it?
