No driver shall operate a commercial motor vehicle, and a motor carrier shall not require or permit a driver to operate a commercial motor vehicle, while the driver's ability or alertness is so impaired, or so """""likely to become impaired, through fatigue"""", illness, or any other cause, as to make it unsafe for him/her to """"begin or continue""" to operate the commercial motor vehicle. I put some quotes in there for what I thought were the spirit of the regulation. Anyway a defroster is important.

Just about the defroster.Could be a dozen reasons why the blower quits. No drivers in the shop.

If your directing that at me, then you need to learn more before you type. If you re-read my post you will see I pulled a different trailer into T/A then dropped it, and was dispatched to pickup a trailer another driver had dropped there.

If you read you will see I refused to hook up to the trailer with the tire problems till the company agreed to have them repaired. Hooking up is key, because as you do not know yet the qualcomm tells them what trailer id hooked to your tractor. You hook it, it becomes your problem. Always pretrip a trailer before you back under it.

Like I said in another post bear, it would take new laws and regs I guess.
The fix for this would be smart, efficient, and the fair thing to do, so I'm sure congress will want nothing to do with it!

I believe a/c is required to be operational to make the defroster work. On the Kenwoth I drive if you turn on the defroster the A/C compressor comes on automatically. The intent is to defrost with cool air

Actually the intent is to defrost with DRY air...The A/C system dries the air and makes the defroster more efficient.
