Yep, vikingswen, hope you clean his clock in court. PPL like that may also have a "history" of similar type accident claims. It would be a grand prize bonus to find out he had,, say,, 10 or 20 more similar rear-end claims over the past few years.

I saw 2 distinct brake checks in the video by that dirtbag. In real life, objects are much closer than they appear on dashcams, and judging space from the flatbed's spread axle (on the right), I can tell he was only about 15'-20' (at the very most) from your front bumper when he cut over and started his brake checks.

Here is a clip from my tripod mounted digital video camera. It sits between the driver's and passenger seat, on a tripod, sitting at about even with my head. I run the camera for 3 or 4 hours, then delete the video if nothing happens. When this incident happened, the camera had been running for about 45 minutes. I am glad to know if I did end up hitting the idiot, I would have had proof of what happened.

You can watch from the beginning, to see if you can see the incident coming. If not, skip ahead to the 01:30 mark, and take it from there.

I would agree with the OP, that we would all be smart to have cameras in our trucks these days.

Here's a link to the clip

Truck is pulling grade, impatient 4wheelers all over the place, big truck needs to pass, 4wheeler is in a hurry, gets mad that big truck "cut him off", so he gets next to big truck and holds his lane to try to block big truck behind another slower big truck, but when slower big truck moves over, 4wheeler rages and decides to show big truck how mad he is, and what an inconvenience it has been to him by brake checking big truck.

In Russia, what happened there would have been completely in favor of vikingswen, period. In the Litigation States of America however, it's not always the case. Obviously big truck could have jammed on the brakes and probably not hit little a-hole in the pickup, but at a cost of personal safety and safety to vehicles behind big truck.

The only unforunate bit is that it didn't occur near a cliff without guard rails at night where pickup might have went over the edge, never able to pull this crap again. He's lucky vikingswen didn't get out and unscrew his head from his body, too.

That dirbag should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I'd sue his sorry butt as well. Yup, after seeing this I'm going to get that dash cam I've been putting off.

I'd also forward this to DOT. I'm sure they are aware of this type of crime but the more proof they have the better it will be for drivers.

I do not recall the model that I have but its on a 12hr continuous loop, with sound and date/time stampon an sd card. Suction cup to windshield. I have it on my business service truck also for insurance reasons. The dude looks like a scrapper, judging by all the tin metal crap on the truck..."hit me softly, just enough for "oh, my neck!"

I bought my dash cam from dashcamusa.com. I picked Bill Gremminger since he is an OOIDA lifetime member and former truck driver. It might have not been the cheapest camera out there, but Bill's service was outstanding and that is worth more to me than a cheap deal. I did buy an extra 32gb memory card to go with the 8gb card it comes with. If I think about it I reformat the card about once a week. The SD card plugs right into my laptop and you can pick the file according to time and watch it right there. I have it set up to save every 5min.
