I just want to tell I'm sorry this had to happen to you
It is all good in fun and games until I poke your eye out. :biggrin_25522: The high lighted part above was the exact reason for me to post the video. Just to make other drivers aware on how quickly your driving career can be ruined without any proof of what has really happened.

I'd bet she didn't think of you once -- was probably on the phone or applying makeup or whatever. Again, I see more of a problem with you hanging around next to her. Notice a car doing stupid ####? Brush it off and get away from them.

there is no law on the books anywhere that i know of saying you must slow down or change lanes for a vehicle parked on the shoulder. There are for emergency vehicles. But it is common courtesy to do so for any vehicle.

And I challenge anyone here with any amount of driving experience to post a 5 minute video of you driving in traffic, I guarantee someone will point out something you did wrong (yes even you with the 33 years experience). so you say if the driver did this or did that the accident wouldn't have happened. I say if the pickup driver hadn't deliberately cut in front of him and slammed on his brakes the accident wouldn't have happened.

Indiana has a Move Over law however it only applies to emergency and state vehicles. emergency does include police, fire, ambulance AND what they term vehicle recovery equipment, meaning tow trucks and similar.
should have just simplified it and made it ALL vehicles on the shoulder. of course thats move over or reduce speed to at least 10 under posted. violators can have their license suspended for two years for failure to comply.

could the OP have avoided the accident in the video? sure, if he was psychic. anyone that would imply that every accident could be avoided or 'theres no reason to hit anything with the front of your truck' must not have ever driven at night through deer country or on any road that people use.

I respect what your saying and , its couse I had the right lane to me open, if needed I could of used all that space to get over and break. I'm on time
And it was her stalking me yo, look one more time and you'll see I piont that out in the video.

My incident could have been an accident, but because I backed off enough, it didn't. I'll tell that experience really goes along way in these moments and predicting what someones going to do. something you don't have.

full speed, after watching your video about the incident with the lady in the Altima I think you may be reading too much into the motivations of the driver. I think we all tend to attribute some kind of nefarious motivation whenever a 4 wheeler "messes with us", yet as double yellow noted, she was probably doing makeup, texting, or otherwise distracted and wandered repeatedly into your lane. After her distraction was done she finally "woke up" and sped away, likely oblivious to the fact she "messed" with you.

Likely the best course of action with that incident may have been to back off about 5 mph to let her wander safely. A double tap blast on the air horn may have got her attention, but that might have escalated if she indeed was trying to mess with you.

Overall I think it is best to give the benefit of the doubt regarding the motivations of other drivers. We have all driven less than perfectly at times and not for reasons of trying to engage other drivers in dangerous incident's. Changing a CD, talking on the phone or CB, reading a map, looking at GPS, etc. can all contribute to distracted driving.

Give room and "pay it forward" is my mantra.

Again, regarding the OP's video, I think that while he could have slowed down and stayed behind the slower trucks in the right lane, he was certainly within his rights and his space to make the lane change to pass (depending on the read of oncoming traffic as he made the lane change). NOTHING would have happened if the pickup driver simply brushed off the temporary inconvenience of slowing down for a trucker to make a pass on an uphill grade. The pickup driver initiated cutoff lane change and the aggressive brake checking and caused the accident. The OP making the lane change did not cause the accident.

I did fall back a little enough to avoid any collision but what the hell am I supposed to drive half the speed limit all day, because I have something called a schedule to meet. She was probably doing about 20-25 in a 45mph. zone.

And I think you guys give the general public way to much credit. Come drive around in Los Angeles for a few years and see if you still have the same mind frame.

What do you guys think about Vikingswens incident to you think that driver of the pick up was distracted or do you think it was out of malice.
