Why Worry about Parasites?

With all the traveling that truckers do, they encounter the risk of being exposed to many types of parasites. Driving in a team situation, slip seating, sleeper berth and eating out while on the road can be hazards to one's health.
I wanted to bring the information to everyone's attention to help you to be able to prevent this from happening to you.

We don't think about parasites, but we should.

Parasites'what do they mean to you? For many of us, we think of repulsive creatures found in unsanitary conditions. We may think that we don't have to worry about them, but maybe we should.

Parasites may be present in food or in water and can be identified as causes of foodborne or waterborne illness in the United States. They range in size, from tiny single-celled organisms to worms visible to the naked eye. Their lifecycle may also vary. While some parasites use a permanent host, others go through a series of developmental phases using different animal or human hosts. The illnesses they can cause range from mild discomfort to debilitating illness and possibly death.
