If you want more of a challenge, go to the Sprouts account. The warehouse is directly across the street from the new OC at Wilmer. You will get plenty of practice playing around in places the truck almost doesn’t fit.

Since most everyone on here works for the big orange, could you please comment on what it's like there for a brand new cdl holder? Would you say there are any good dedicated jobs for someone that's completely new? What are the easiest team jobs? For my zip they only had the toro account available to someone that goes through their cat program. Are there other better jobs available if you already have a cdl from a 160hr school??

I haven't worked for them in almost 6 years.
I can only tell you about one dedicated account. (Sprouts) It is not really suitable for a new CDL holder. A lot of these stores have EXTREMELY tight docks, and some are not only very tight, but are also blindside. In a lot of them, you also have to deal with the people in the parking lots. On the account I was on, we went through at LEAST a driver every week, just in one location. They either couldn't deal with the docks, or had a hard time running 600+ miles per day, and having to do a drop and hook, and then 3 live unload stops at the stores.

It seems to vary by how much they need drivers in your area. When I hired on a little over a year ago, they were taking inexperienced drivers with a CDL on just about any account. More recently, I’ve noticed only OTR allowing new drivers and the dedicated accounts all need 3-6mo experience. I just checked my zip code and right new even OTR is requiring 3 months experience. Only 3 positions listed and they all require experience.

I know Schneider gets a lot of hate but my experience with the CAT program & this job has been positive.

I imagine the $$ is broken down for per driver for team. Which means each driver is only making slightly less. Schneider has had a way of trying the whole equity thing with their pay scales across accounts when it comes to new drivers. I came out of the CAT program myself. A buddy of mine also graduated. he ran the Floor and Decor account and I went to Lidl account. Pay wise he was making .30 cpm more than me but he was dealing with North Va, Maryland, NY and Jersey. His daily average mileage was a lot less than mine. Where I was making less cpm than him I would actually bring home slightly more than him because I ran NC to GA. averaging anywhere between 2300 to 3000 miles per 70. Other differences I was in a full sleeper, he was in an econo sleeper with no passenger seat and one fuel tank. I ran nights, he fought the nightmare of daytime idiots. I got a lot more experience very quickly with tight backing where he may have had to once a month.

Over all though as far as pay goes. Schneider tends to keep everyone within range of each account but there's things taken into consideration such as average miles, job requirements, typical driving conditions etc.

    gentleroger Thanks this.

I agree. That would be a good dedicated account.
