Just like most cars are automatics.....trucks will be too. It's not just megas switching. Friends of mine who work for small trucking companies in the Chicagoland area drive automatics.
To those who are resisting....be secure in your manhood. Don't allow a stick to be an extension of your #####.
why you do not want a automatic.

Hate to pop your bubble about the Mega's as everybody calls them, but the so called Mega's only make up a small portion of the trucking industry as a whole, better try again on thinking that manual shifting trucks will be a " Hobby " market. Where are you getting all of this rocket science info from?DrtyDiesel and TruckDuo Thank this.

OK, then let's try this angle, Freightliner Cascadias build time is out almost a year IF you spec it with a DT-12 tranny, and that tranny is ONLY available on TWO trucks, the Cassie and the WS 5700,
somebody is buying a bunch of them!TruckDuo Thanks this. -
Just my .02 cents worth, I know of a lease company that also owns a trucking company and they buy Volvo's with auto's all day long, no problems with wait time at all, Your post really means nothing except maybe Freightliner might have a problem, besides just because one truck Mfg. might have a wait time does not mean this whole industry is stumbling over themselves to get auto's. Only time will tell, buy the way, I did drive a Volvo with that I- Shift and I can be honest in saying that I can out shift that I- shift as far as being smooth goes..

I agree with your assumption to a point, that point being IF the Cascadia was just another truck model I would agree with you, BUT it is Freightliner's best selling model by volume, and of course FRTLR is by far the largest truck maker, it does represent a LARGE potion of the trucks on the road, there is a reason that you can not spec that tranny in any other model that Freightliner/Western Star build, that reason is, they simply can not build them fast enough, and it has been that way for a while.
Again, I will stand by my previous statement, "Somebody is buying them".Cranky Yankee and TruckDuo Thank this. -
in 4 more months we will have all auto's but having only 10 total I guess if we are a mega the pond is very small
KANSAS TRANSIT and TruckDuo Thank this. -
I agree with you on your point, as I believe Freightliner and Volvo are probably the two most selling trucks out here from what I see on the road, but that still does not mean that the trucking industry as a whole is flocking to buy auto's, now, if every Mfg. out here was selling trucks with auto's and they all could not keep up with the demand then this post would be a mute point. Besides my reply to wyldhorses was on the respect that just because the mega's were buying trucks with auto's does not mean that manual tranny's will be a hobby. Like I said earlier that I drove an I- Shift and did not like it, it does not mean that I'm against an auto. A poster here said an Allison was the best, I would like to drive one some time, if it is a lot better then an I-shift then great. I still believe that manual tranny's are going to be around for a while.

Understand, and I'm not saying that the manual's are going to disappear anytime soon, but also realize that I-shift on a Volvo road tractor is now STANDARD EQUIPMENT?rocknroll81 Thanks this. -
Automatic's are standard on most supercars now.
