I wonder if they had these kinds of conversations when they went from 2 stick transmissions to air shift?

The only thing I hate about automatics is that they spin tires too easily, making winter driving more of a headache.

two coworkers have been driving push auto Mack's for a year now, going into their second winter with them. Took them both probably two months to get 100% comfortable with them, now, the boss has to pry the keys from them when it's time for PM. 20 yrs and 15 yrs exp.

When I was 18 I drove truck for a farmer out in South Dakota in and old Pete cab over shifting gears and having a great OL time. Now 20 years later I decided I wanted to drive truck again and borrowed my buddies 389 Pete. Loved it pretty good at floating the gears even after l these years. So I went out and got my cdl. Got hired on with a awesome local otr outfit. Come to find out that all their trucks are automatics. At first wasn't real happy about that since I loved pulling gears but the autos aren't terrible either I guess. Some days I would rather be shifting than there are some days while in heavy traffic I'm ok with the auto shift

I had an auto volvo 670 for a few months, the only time in"sorta" liked it was in traffic, now I'm in a prostar (cummins) with 10spd and I would never get back in an auto again. Just a few short months in an auto made me appreciate gears much more
