    Just imagine every time you hear "ma" it's an ad for a local driver.

    Sometime they looking for both, and sometimes someone prefers one option more, but since you already have his contact as a company they can convince someone to go for another option. Leads = Money

    Most companies start rookies out doing OTR. Gotta pay some dues!

    you mean most of the megas do, and there arent too many options today as far as training because the magas have bought an paid for this industry, there used to be a day where a father could teach his son, but its so much safer now to get trained at swift by a guy with 6 mos exp lol

    I don’t work for a mega, my company only has around 500 trucks. I was straight OTR for 7 months, and only then was able to get one of our regional dedicated routes.

    I always get a kick out of people that insist that the only way into this job is at least a year of indentured servitude with a big van fleet.

    I guess I never paid my dues. :rolleyes:

    And what's even more incomprehensible is when I started in the LTL business I not only didn't have to do the seemingly ubiquitous "on-call" thing, but walked right into a bid run.

    How dare me...:biggrin_2552::biggrin_25517:

    That's crap, the "dues" payment of eating excrement OTR sandwiches is a fallacy perpetuated to help megas bring in rookies for garbage money.
