There has been some discussion about getting rid of the amber strobe lights, but as far as I know nothing has come of it to date.

But IMHO....Annoying Mr.Gift and other people like him is a perfectly good reason to keep running them.:yes2557:

I'll be looking for some higher intensity strobes now...:biggrin_25522:

Even if DOT approved, if someone has a mishap/collision because of them, you can be blamed and invited to court.

Our ambulance has a direction stick on the back of the light bar.
I advised to never use it.
If we correctly direct someone, and they misunderstand and have a mishap, they may sue.
Even if found not at fault, we still had to go to court.

Stopped in traffic, John motioned an opposing lefturning driver to turn and cross in front of him.
Without checking, the other driver continued into the lane to the right of John and was broadsided by vehicle in that lane.
John was held partially at fault for the mishap and sued.

Unnecessary whining noises give me headaches....Can I sue you?:biggrin_2559:

They can sue all they want to....If the law requires me to have them and they are legally sold for the purpose that they are being used, We'll see what happens!

I'd say.....Nothing would happen because no one did anything outside of what the government "REQUIRED" of them in order to operate.
If they sued and won....It'd be an interesting precedent, Wouldn't it?

Yes. It would be unfair to you.
But they likely would never win.
But being blamed and hauled into court is also unfair to you.

So I would not get anything brighter than what is the minimum required.
(Then you'll get sued for the lights not being bright enough.)

It's gonna cost me a LOT of money to get beacon/strobes that can be seen from the moon....But it'll be worth it!:biggrin_2559:
