I rarely use wifi. I have sprint broadband and it works great for what I need it for. I have one of the cards that fits into the USB port.

Ya know, I was thinking.....Yes I have a headache now...

To save on cell minutes, would one of those magicjacks work for you truckers while on the road. That is, those with fast enough service via their wireless card or superG wifi?

For 40.00 the first year and 20.00 after that for unlimited calls or faxes from the road? Just an after thought.....

I'll edit my own post......YES the MagicJack will work with WiFi. Just keep a phone in your truck, plug in the MJ to the usb port, plug in the phone and through WiFi you now have a phone with all the long distance you want without burning up minutes on your cell.

Yep... MagicJack will work with WiFi, but a lot is going to depend on the signal strength and speed of your connection.

Make sure the phone you're trying to use doesn't need much in the way of juice. You're most likely going to have to run an inverter to provide power for the phone. Haven't seen a USB powered "home phone" yet. ;)

I have (and use) Sprint. With Sprint, IF you have a cell phone signal, ANY cell phone signal; EVEN ROAMING, you will have internet with the air-card. It might be slow out in BUFU Wyoming, but it still gets you there.

I have two phones on an 1100 minute per month plan and I have never ran over on minutes, not even with a yakkety-yak wife.
