I am wondering if there is a place I can go to find a list of WiFi hotspots, primarily in the Midwest and Southeast. I know you could park close to a Super 8 and get signal but not Motel 6 because they are greedy and charge for it. Thanks.

Every list I've ever seen has been pretty much useless for us drivers, I've yet to see a Starbucks or a Panera Bread with truck parking. I have the best luck with the smaller, mom and pop truckstops. A lot of them are ahead of the curve and put wifi up draw in more traffic. Then you got to find a driver who wants to share the locations that he knows. I have my favorite spots where I can get a decent signal, I don't think i want to broadcast them here though, because the more traffic they get the more likely the unsuspecting person that put them up will notice and lock them up. For instance, the Pilot/Road Ranger on I44 in Waynesville, MO. If you parked in the front row, you could get a great signal from the hotel across the highway. I planned my stops there for about a year, then one night I pulled in and all of the sudden it was secured and required a passkey.

That figures. Yeah, putting places like Starbucks on a list doesnt do us drivers alot of good at all.

You can make a can-antenna from a pringles can and get wifi.

You can get free WiFi at all McDonalds. Theres a lot of them close to truck stops. Also most motels have unsecured signals. It sucks that Pilot charges.
I was sitting inside of a Pilot in Kansas the other day and couldn't even get a signal for THEIR WiFi but I could get a signal for the McDonalds ACROSS the street!!!
