My old boss had a bunch of 40/20 trains and they all had a pin for the turntable. It’s hard to make your brain think the opposite of what it needs to think when you have to get the lead trailer back under the pup.

In my great state of Idaho, they haul a lot of straw and hay with tandem trailers. It's not rare to see triple flatbeds consisting of 28' footers.
Montana, and Utah are also legal for triples.

90 degree back 2x 53 footers. No pin lock:

    Canadian (Saskatchewan) triple:

    Not sure what this is called. A tandem/tandem/tandem is a b train. Tandem/tridem/tandem is a super b. Tri/tri/tri = king b????? unnamed.jpg

That double ‘53 back up is very impressive. Back in the manual steering days that had to have been a workout.

Saw it once when I worked at CFCC break in Toledo. He was a little old guy, looked like a dwarf from Lord of the Rings, he could puta tail into the door, he was using a yard horse hooked to lead though, I think they called him Dutch, many moons ago

    D.Tibbitt and jamespmack Thank this.

It is possible... But it is very difficult... I can back them in a straight line on good smooth ground. But not around a corner... At least not intentionally. The key to backing straight is to keep the lead trailer wiggling back and forth ever so slightly to keep the dolly from breaking over one way or the other.

Carolina Freight Carriers Corp. out of Cherryville, NC. Fifth largest LTL in the country at the time, partnered with Red Arrow and GI Trucking now a part of Estes.0Great company to work for. I was a dockhand at Toledo Breakbulk till ABF brought us out. Did a stint with CF , Consolidated Freightways , as a casual, but saw the handwriting on the wall there with the Conjob double breasting
