US Supreme Court vs Amish Farms Trucking Company, U.S. Code section 18 § 107.823-a, Sept 3, 1897

Driver Manager for Amish Farms Trucking told younger buggy student to get a left handed spoke wrench for wood-spoke buggy wheels.
After 3 fruitless days searching, the buggy student began being laughed at by 14 other new BDL (Buggy Drivers License) students.
Upon realization that plaintiff student had been tricked, both a lawsuit and a violent Amish rake fight ensued.

Plaintiff Jerod Smith was awarded 3 chickens and 20' x 30' plot of hayfield for his harassment suit.

Yep.....those Amish have no tv..radios...etc...and to have fun isn't allowed in their (community) as it may seem ungodly.....so sure he would win such a suit......show something from the real world not the TV show

When I was doing warehouse work the new guy was asked to go to the office and get the keys to the basement.

seen that particular episode, and they also do boxing fights etc....but its conducted outside of the main peer amish group.....kinda like when we were kids we would sneak out of house, or go somewhere out of the sight and ears of our parents and partake in alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, ect.....or going to a friends house who's parents you know are not home and having a party.....

in that particular episode you didn't see any of the elders around did you?

how many of us sneaked out of the house to goto a party? or do something one isn't suppose to do? which really has no bearing on this thread.....so back to point.....

Since the beginning of time there has been the rite of passage....and some places still adhere to rite of passage.....tribes do ceremonies which comemerates the coming of age from a boy to a man. Others use tattoo's as a rite of passage and there are many more....some of which are in my own opionion is allot more harmful and hurtful to a person than playing a stupid joke.

In trucking and in any job there has and always will be a so called rite of passage...as one should, and needs to earn one's place to be in the industry....but nowadays people feel and believe that things should be automatically just handed to them, and just given based on the fact that one acquired a job, no matter what the job is.....

There is no harm, or ill-intent on the party or parties that feel that a rite of passage be observed.....now I do take exception to this for example when hazing, etc....results to phyiscal injury and or harm to another person this i think goes too far.....I remember my dad telling me how when he was in the navy when they crossed a particular ocean for the first time the newbies would get tagged in the shoulder where the pins were.....(ok that might be taking things a little far).

People who feel or think they have the right to be out here, just because one passed a cdl, and got a driving job should really re-think things as its a different world out here then way before I got into driving....and one should also earn the right to be out here......just because some idiot who has never driven a truck hands you a cdl, doesn't particularly mean that one should be driving a truck.....

Okay. Didn't see that at first. But something smelled fishy anyways. I was about to call you out on it too Cajun until I saw that.

edit: maybe I should have! Then I'd feel harrassed by the replies and wyldhorse wouldve had a court case! :biggrin_25512:

I think there was a mixup on who was responding to who, hence your 'almost' mistakenly gunning me down! ;) Don't taze met yet, bro! lol
I edited/added the original source quote to my post to show the reply path.
Just tryin' to add to the humor. ;)

Oh, no I know. At least once I saw that it wasn't intended to be a citation of a real court case.

...just not a huge fan of hot air being blown my way when it isn't for humor. I have a bad habit of calling people out on bullsnit.

I keep thinking I'm going to pull out my tazer on someone, but then I realize SNI confiscated my tazer. So all I got are these Schneider-issue left handed tire thumper and a left handed sledge. I'm a rightie! What am I supposed to do with that?!
