good read BUT only page 24 talks about abs and nothing in it about the abs system being able to derate the engine
page 25 talks about the traction control system
I asked the service manger at VoMac (Volvo evansvills, in.) is there any way having the abs light on would derate the engein.... NO -
I guarantee you it will not TCS yes it will but it is a different system from abs and not all vehicles have it, there is certain transmissions like ZF Freedom line that if it has active abs fault it will not shift auto and will put out SM ,but that is as far as ABS goes no derates from abs and tcs you can't call it a derate as much as no acceleration because it is not making the engine loose power it's just thinking that the vehicle is getting in an accident and it is trying to avoid with applying brakes acceleration sometimes even engine brake depending on how advanced and programing.

Ok sounds good. maybe that's where people's confusion comes in. my 2006 doesn't have TCS so that's not a worry.

Here is snapshot with ECM calibration for 2007 truck. ECM does count ABS signal to control engine.
