It needed to be said. But I don't think it contradicts what kdryan said about distraction. Here's one consequence of distraction: three dead, fifteen hurt

You know what? I'm not gonna argue this. I have a cold, a house full of 5 nine year olds playing video games, and I really wish right now someone would come and split my head open and drain about 99.9% of the snot out of it. I'm going to respectfully back out of this conversation...

I say this with all due respect.... You're bound to have a REALLY bad day someday if you're 99.9% sure of your predicting abilities. That being said I do agree that if you're alert you can predict what someone may do a good bit of the time, but not 99.9% of the time. I've been driving for 9 years and I still see other drivers (big trucks included) that do things that make me go
"OMG WTF did see I see that correctly? That did not just really happen, did it?" Things that no one, short of psychic, would've predicted.
Anywho... to the OP...
If your husband's accidents are only on his DAC then he needs to find a company that doesn't run DAC. It'll usually be the smaller companies and independents. The suspension could be the deal breaker. But maybe they'll let him plead his case and if he has a letter from the state backing him up... they may give him a chance. It's going to take some work but he should be able to find a job again. -

My buddy drives for Roehl. Anytime he has even the slightest 'hard/abrupt brake' - the dam Qualcomm tattle tales back to mother Roehl and then he gets a call.
How can you drive with that on your mind?

Can't help you with the nine-year olds.
Okay, just one post this time. I guess I was asleep at the mouse. -
Following distance, is everything. Driver's (truckers included) tend to follow way too close. Most need to double or triple the following distance for a minimum.
Since I drive between 500 to 700 5 days a week you can't tell me that this is not possible, because I leave it open. I also fond people do pull into the hole ans most go right on over to another lane.
The faster you want to drive the bigger the gap. Either live with it or live with the consequences.
As far as being responsible for a preloaded trailer, yup thats part of driving. You hook up to it you take on the responsibility for the safe transport of the load. Tell your husband to learn to crawl, or advise dispatch that you can't get to the front of the load to inspect it, so your not accepting responsibility of the load. But it has to be before you hook to it, once the fifth wheel clicks in you own it, it's yours. -
That is just as bad for your reaction time as wondering if your cargo is going to shift. When you need to brake hard or swerve to avoid a collision milliseconds count. How can you make split second decisions if you have to wonder if someone is going to be second guessing you?Hanadarko Thanks this. -
Sorry about hijacking post
Do you actually read Mark Twain, or did you just see my quote wonder who wrote it (Bazerk couldn't have made it up?) then copy it? You know which famous person also said that quote, Homer Simson in a conversation to Bart where I got it from, didnt know he got it from Mark Twain. Only slightly offended. Dont do it again! I dig that quote, its kinda like a painting, it says very little but has a wealth of meaning. I think it should be at the top of this forum.
p.s. What you wrote is a complete misquote.
