I'll be praying for you, your husband and his job. If it were me, I'd be supportive at this point for him to try and get another position. I may be wrong but I think you might be looking for information on whether to encourage him to try or to try something else instead.

The problem with Mom and Pop operation (which I am the Mom of one) is they are making the regs harder and harder for Mom or Pop to survive and they have gotten to a point that hiring anybody with so much as a pimple puts us at risk of being shut down. To hold the driver record against the driver is one thing but to hold all your driver's records against a small company is another. Large companies has numerous amounts of drivers who come and go so if they have one with problems the points can be offset with the ones who have clean records while small companies don't have the "pool of drivers and resources" to offset the points.

Even if we hire someone with problems, that we feel are trivial, the company is accessed the points for those problems. One "oops" or not being able to verify an "oops", with FMSCA there are no "oops with an explanation", doesn't change the fact and there is no repairing the damage done once the hiring has been done. The best we can do is let them go and wait 5 years for the points to go off our record. Sad to think a lot of truck drivers don't get a chance because of this. One mistake in that 5 year period will shut us down. Fair - not at all - but nobody said that anybody coming up with these lunatic laws even knows how to spell fair. Fair is a carnival usually held at county parks in the summer.
