Will having a car accident affect my record?

I've listed a accident on my applications that I had in a car. Never has hurt me once. I'd rather tell the truth and get the job then get caught lying and lose the job later. It happened just 6 months before I got my CDL and other then my employer asking me what happened never had any other questions over it. Explain the accident thoroughly on your application and most won't even worry about it.

 

Go by your local dmv and get a copy of your MVR, its only like 5 or 6 bucks I wanna say, its been a while since I got one though, is that short form hand written or not? FHP or a local agency write it? Florida never ceizes to amaze me what happens with papertrails involving vehicles. Regardless though, I would put it down, because we all know insurance companies talk, and it wouldn't be hard for an employer or their insurance to find out.

 

Not to say I'm an expert, but I just got out of school and the state law says you must report these kinds of things to your employer. The law doesn't specify if it's on your mvr, but if there is over X amount of dollars in damage it needs to be reported. If you report it to your employer or potential employer and it doesn't matter then no harm no fal, like the other guys said though..."withhold" something and it could hurt

 

If a police officer was dispatched to the scene, there is a report. What is going to concern employers is your explanation. They are going to think you fell asleep. They are going to think there is no way a big truck can accelerate fast enough to get away before you got any information. Tag, color, make? Just be honest and you should be OK.

maybe his brakes locked up, due to a fallen off glad hand? maybe the truck engine died all of a sudden?

You were "so tired"?? and doing what, 60 mph like you say?? DID YOU FALL ASLEEP YOURSELF??

This "self contained accident" is going to hurt you.

Lot's of holes, like did he fall asleep himself, was he dozing off, was he paying attention, apparently not, as he had to swerve at the last minute of so, leading me to believe he was falling asleep.

You claimed there were NO injuries, yet you were "sore"?? to me, that IS an injury. You were not sure of your non-injury a while ago, but you ARE SURE it was an owner-op??

You may still be hired, but the accident isn't in your favor either.

Ok, so now the driver was picking up some food on the ground?? AND how did HE CAUSE your accident, when YOU were tired, going fast and had to swerve while you were dozing off??

He didn't flee, whatever his truck problem was, it got back to working again, and he left. He caused NO ACCIDENT.

He ain't NO COWARD, you were tired!! and speeding, and NOT paying attention.

IT WILL MATTER, the trucking company will NOT believe your made up story, of a one car crash, late at night. No witnesses, but a POLICE REPORT, of a SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT!!

Cited or not, if a cop shows up, it is a reportable accident, that GOES ONTO HIS DMV.

When I interviewed for CWF last year, I still had an accident from highschool on my record from highschool. The TM didnt really seem to be concerned as it was four years prior to my interview and said Im not worried about that.

I was in an accident again due to brake failure this january, and all I had was the cop write up the report. I had already applied to YRC before that and when I interviewed they didnt seem to ask about it or even mention it when I went down there. I believe if you dont go with the insurance it doesnt go on your MVR. I rebuilt my truck myself

 

It does not need to be an insurance claim. Once a cop shows up, he NEEDS to make a report of HIS TIME and what HE RESPONDED TO.

It'll be on his DMV, sooner rather than later.
