$10K is WAY ABOVE the average for a CDL school. Normally you would be less than half that. I've heard of schools that charge about $8K, but in addition to CDL you also graduate with forklift certification, load securement training for flatbed, basic truck maintenance and roadside repair, and advanced driving skills like skid pad training. If all that school is offering is a basic CDL, then it's a rip off.
If you knew me much better you would realize that I am too scary for Life. And, you would not make the comment with a smiley face.
$10K is too much for cdl school. Werner owns the school and jacks the price up, then offers a discount if you sign on with Werner. If you go to another company, you pay the full amount. See what Southwest will work out with you. Werner hires from that school also. You're an out of state student? Where is your legal address? Trucking companies hire based on the hiring area of your drivers license address.
I’m way scary myself. I’m sure you are frightened. I was talking to the OP. Not you. I’m not looking for a problem with you, but just so you know, you don’t intimidate me at all. Carry on.
Okay thanks I’ll see what Southwest can do for me. And yes I was an out of state student up until today when I got a Nevada DL. But I’m still considered an out of state student based on my residency. I’m from AZ.
I can intimidate with just a look. Not so much by writing something, though. (Actually, I have only been able to intimidate someone in that way. Through a look... what they see in my eyes as they are speaking with me. I have never lost a stare out.) And I never thought you were looking for trouble. But, you must admit, the comment had no reference to the intended target. It seemed to me to be directed to the last poster, which was me. But I am intrigued as to how you are way scary. Maybe I should be frightened?
if your patient you can get paid to get it. i went through a dock to driver program through an LTL carrier. they paid the bill. got paid hourly to be in class and free room and meals. i had a 1 year commitment but the pay was pretty good so i didnt mind
Moosetek I put a smile on a lot of what I do here because i never want anyone to take what I say personally. I’ve always had an edge to my humor and often people can’t detect that I’m messing around. I should have quoted the op so you wouldn’t have to wonder. I was playfully piling on him after your post. Not discounting your post. So that was my bad. Now, as far as who’s a bigger bad ###, it’s possible you are. But until we met I really don’t know. I’ve met and associated with a lot of hard men in my life. I usually get along very well. I give and receive respect in almost all circles. When I came to TTR I created a username so sisified and ridiculous as to never get me in an online dispute with someone. Why? Because nothing is worse than having a problem with someone you cannot reach out and touch. Right? So I came here to laugh and chill. Creating real life conflict is easy for me. I don’t want it here. Respectfully yours. iluvCATS.
