Yes there is. (moose starts crying now) I lost my medical. The FAA don't want people with epilepsy flying airplanes!
How about that new thing, the Sportsman's class or something like that? It's for flying ultra lights and the sport class of aircraft. I don't know much about it. Do you need a medical for that? I can still pass the 1st class medical but if my doctor ever retires...or changes the eye chart that I have memorized...I'll probably be all done.
If I ever went up chances are I would not make it back to the ground in one piece. I actually get a chance to fly from time to time in the left seat in a friends 182. I just can't be PIC. Sucks but it is my reality now.
Trust me. I wish it was a lie. I wish I could wake up and find out all of this is but a dream. It is not. I invite you to check out some of the forums dedicated to this horrible condition.
Yep. I not only lost my Virginia CDL I lost all my driving privileges. The FAA will not pull a certificate but said certificate is useless without the medical. All I have now is a Virginia ID.
I can only try to feel your pain. Our SIL has it and his meds can cause him to rage at times. Me and the Mrs. once thought about taking our daughter out of the house for fear that some harm might come to her. Without his meds he's a strange bird...on them, Oh Gawd.
Thankfully I don't have rage issues on or off my meds. My condition presents 3 ways. 1 I have horrible problems with some sounds. A bird chirp cell phone ring tone has sent me to the ER before with atonic seizures. . 2. I have a serious problem with petit mal seizures my doctor has not found a medication to control. 3 If I am not careful to take my meds on time at the right time I can develop a grand mal seizure and require being admitted to the hospital.
