No I will not wait in your driver area for more than 2 hours
Yes I will sleep/smoke in my cab while waiting for you
No I will not lump/sort freight for less than $50 per hour that is my standard manual labor rate and 8 hours must be paid upfront
No you will not put glad hand locks on my tractor at any point
No you will not get a copy of my DL or any other personal identifying documents (that's why I have a company ID).
Yes I will drop the trailer and leave if you cannot get me unloaded in time for me to be at a safe location with food a bathroom and a shower are at for my mandatory 10 hour break.
If you do not want me to drop the trailer I will take the whole load with me for that break.
You know my companies phone number get your lumper fees from them
No Mr, super egotistically UNIMPORTANT manager I do not work for you. You will speak to me with professionalism and courteously just as I am speaking to you.
Yes I will call the police if you attempt to lock my tractor glad hands or try to keep me behind your gated area when I decide to leave.
The only reason for Mr. Manager has to speak to me is to tell me what dock #, receive the BOL and to return the signed BOL. Anything else you need to call my company.
I think I would make an excellent driver in these divisions.

Ha,Ha,Ha.... I am a crotchety old combat veteran careful isn't in my DNA is this respect. In today's society you must demand respect, or you will not get it. I have noticed, not just in trucking, those with a self-important god complex tend not to like me or those like me too much. We threaten their sense of machismo way too much and we don't really care. The more infuriated and enraged they become the more hilarious it is.

well....... lol, you will be banned from some places, maybe fired a few times, I was.

I had the same problem as you. I just told potential employers the deal, (after I had 15 yrs or so in), and it started working out.

Yeah, you might want to be a tad bit more flexible.

Can we burn them down? Explosives
What would I need to be more flexible on? It all sounds reasonable to me.

I’m sure one of our stuck up fleet owners will be along shortly to chastise you for daring to think such insensitive thoughts.

Now that is truly funny! They might get their feelings hurt after the chastisement as their feelings mean 0 to me. I see many of the same problems in those division as when I started out that's why I went flatbed then, and why I am considering re-entering flatbed or going T/HME this time around, also hopper belly dump options. In reality my personality and ability to insult a person while being entirely polite and a 0 tolerance for egotistical managers means those positions are in truth most likely not for me, mostly because what I originally posted would be exactly how I operated. It does seem that other divisions the drivers are recognized as drivers and the facilities do not treat the driver like one of the dock workers. But I thought I would ask anyway

If you're asking for $50/hr you might just be better off finding a job where that's all you do, lol better pay than trucking.
Otherwise if you're talking about like working for a grocery store and delivering to the stores you might be ok, idk exactly what it entails but having worked at an actual store little, if any of your demands were actually handled by the drivers that made our deliveries. If you're talking about working for like swift or something and delivering to grocery warehouses etc.... Goodluck. Never had an airlock put on my tractor, trailer yes, but not tractor. That's a safety thing, they don't want you pulling out with a forklift driver inside.
