Yes you still need to certify on elds. I certify each morning because you cant edit if you’ve already certified I think. I have left myself on-duty for my whole 10 hour break cause I got distracted during my post trip.
You just tap the screen to certify but it says something like “I hereby certify these logs to be true and correct” or something like that.Diesel Dave and Speedy356 Thank this. -
it’s the same thing as on a paper log, when your finished with your log for the last 24 hour period, you sign the log.
On an ELD when your done with your day, you hit the certify button to certify that 24 hour period.Diesel Dave and tscottme Thank this. -
I edit after certifying all the time (omnitracs) Shows as recertified.
lillady2021 Thanks this. -
If there is any violation listed that will create PSP marks against your license. You can buy a copy of your PSP report for $10 from FMCSA. If ti just happened it may take a few days before the event you described is in your PSP.lillady2021 Thanks this.

I was never taught about having to put the bol# in the logs. Honestly, all they require us to put in our eld is the inspections and on the loaded calls all we are required is: trailer #, hazmat yes or no, placards yes or no, if we will deliver on time, pta after load, and that’s it… -
On the eld’s you have to go back to the previous 7 days and certify “confirming” that the logs are correct. Where as paper you sign we have to hit “certify” which counts as our signature. I had two days that I did not do that and he got me for it

Our saftey dept is another state which I am never sent to. As far as I know each of our terminals do not have a safety person.. can I call the safety department? -
Your ELD should contain your truck number, trailer number(s) and BOL number. Since the ELDs started, the DOT cops aren't getting as many HOS violations, so many of them are just looking for something to ding you on.

certify is just signing your elog. on paper you sign the log. on the eld you hit certify.Diesel Dave Thanks this.
