I'm getting into car hauling. I'm looking to run a single axle volvo vnl day cab. Front axle rating of 12000lbs and rear axle rating of 20000lbs 180 inch wheelbase .. looking at a tandem axle suncountry trailer with a 45000 lb gvwr axle ratings of 2 22500lb axles My question is will this set up work with the truck?

OK so I'm asking if the truck and trailer would be good for the set up basically. So volvo vnl single axle 20k rear axle 12 k front axle 32000 gvwr... trailer is a suncountry 5 car trailer air brake tandem axle with a gvwr of 45000lbs. Will this set up work?

It will work until the first time you go through a scale and you get a ticket for 11k over on your trailer axle.

    EvertonP Thanks this.

Sorry why would I be over 11k on the trailer axle ? The trailer is rated for 45000lbs and has tandem 22500 axles ... ?

Tandem axle legal weight is 34k on federal highway system.

It looks like tandem axle is 18,000kg there, 19,100kg for spread, but I'm not familiar with Canada's laws enough to say for sure. It might be easier to use the metric system instead of converting to US measurements.

Most highmount trailers end up needing the 5th wheel at the rear of the frame for turn clearance, so you won't get any weight on the steers.

I've seen these setups around, and unless you're only running small, lightweight units, you're going to end up overloading the drives.

Thank you.. on the trailer it's a low clearance has 2 tilt decks. I have room to move the fifth wheel ahead with turning clearance as well. So that should be OK I take it ?
