Technological and social advances have always raced ahead and obsoleted various buggy whips.

    Nothing new about that.

Yea, I suppose so, DrtyDiesel. According to Victor, anyone who owns a business only exploits those whom he employs and should give up all profits to the poor, deserving employee. It doesn't matter that the employer assumes all the risk of success or failure and the employee can simply walk away and go to the next company.

As I recall, Victor quoted some figures concerning trucking profits. I believe the carrier had a net profit of about 10% or $20,000 on gross revenue of over $200,000. I don't recall him mentioning driver compensation in that post. Even if those drivers are only making $40,000/year, the drivers are still making double what their employer is making, assuming the figures are anywhere close to accurate. Some are most likely making in excess of $60,000/year. That is triple what the company is making. Yet, it is not enough. I wonder how many of those drivers would risk their capital, credit and future for such a small return on their investment. The union line is to drain every penny of profit from the employer and he will find a way to continue paying. Victor, surely you can't believe most of what you are spewing.

Yes, it's like the smokers who insist on standing at the entrance and takes rules and regulations to move them off. The Heartland/GTI, CRE, and a whole band of truckload carriers that burn up new drivers and make it necessary to legislate fair and equitable.

Once again, Giuseppe Garibaldi: "They squeeze out all the juice and throw away the peel."

After I found out what my company makes on some of our loads I've never felt jealous or entitled.

I make really good money for my situation. I've shown dispatch that I like to run my butt off and make as much money as possible (one reason I wouldn't want to be paid hourly), and the last few weeks I've been burning through my 70 fast, usually having only 5-8 hours available to work on my 6th work day.

My views i had while OTR haven't changed. Get paid for what you work.

It's amazing (not flattering, amazing) that the two of you, Diesel and G/MAN, are so attracted to this thread. And have no clue. None.

Ridgeline may not like what's happening in California, but at least he 'gets it'. G/MAN, I asked d o g to look into your union-phobia complaints in this thread. Again, thread's not about unions. I'm the OP, you're in my living room with your unapologetically muddy boots.

The subject is Quezada v Con-way and ramifications.
