    It's time
e to find another job that does not require
Re 70 plus a week , away from family weekly ,monthly, where I can have a normal life nothing about trucking is normal,,more money less work, more me time and my annual cost to live on road $14,500.00 is not taken out of my pocket. I started out companies would pay meals and motels. Now it's your money you spend and now you do not even get to deduct it from your taxes .Good Luck drivers your figer it out someday.

If per diem is over....what does it do
..to drivers ...which part of their pay..isnt taxed now by employers ...if they will now have full taxes taken out...their weekly take home will really drop

What you and others are missing is the standard deduction doubled. Plus the child tax credit doubled. And the tax rates dropped. So you lose the per diem, which is off set by a much higher standard deduction to lower taxable income, and instead of paying 36% on taxable income you will now pay 25% (obviously exact percentage will vary upon each individuals taxable income). Most otr guys will see an increase in deductions. The ones that will see a decrease are the guys with no kids that stay out 325 days a year, those that "live" in the truck.
