I'll be home tomorrow by choice. I had the option to start my Christmas time off last Saturday, but told them I wanted to run and didn't mind getting back after Christmas as long as I'm home before the weekend. A few off days this month with truck repair issues and I'm more than happy to take up some holiday slack.

Even before I had planned on driving I had respect for truckers .
I have understood and appreciated the fact that almost all of the food and retail being readily available to
the public is made possible by commercial drivers . Thank you..for what you continue to do week in and week
    out .

And thank you for the forum responses .

    Thanks for the details.

But, really, it doesn't change the fact that if you are late to an appointment you may get bumped to the back of the line.
It is not unfair or wrong for the shipper to do this, either. - unless you feel your time is more important than all the other drivers that got there on time.

We where sent deadhead from Reno to Pomona last night. Being next to my home town. I got to spend the day with the fam and girly. But my trainer is sitting in the yard. I feel bad for him, my girl brought him some fresh tamales. We got stuck in Wyoming due to weather and despatch couldn't get him home. He has a wife, kids the whole nine yards. I just have a very understanding girlfriend. He said it's his first time in years he wasn't home.

Being local, I'm home every night, M-F. We do have overnight runs but drivers with more seniority almost always take them unless a plant runs completely out of product due to a railroad screw up and the plants need 6-8 truckloads of product. I would have preferred to run yesterday as I don't quite have my 90 days in here, so no holiday pay.

I got home Christmas Eve under a load that delivers 20 miles from the house Friday morning.
