the recruiter from wse came to our class in springdale and i was very impressed by what he had to say. i asked him if he knew you by your hometown and he said yes. i liked what he had to say about their program on l/p plan. they want you to drive co. for a year and put all your data in a program and will spit out what you would have done if you owned the truck. if i was not starting with tyson monday i would probably go with wse. -

Anyone else have anything to add to this topic? I'm looking at Willis Shaw as well. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Baack. I used the forum search function as well but most of the matches I found were references in irrelevant posts. There are a couple of present or former employees that post on youtube that I'll be trying to make contact with over the weekend. Thanks again.

kameraman and AlohaWolfana, are you guys still with Willis Shaw? They're one of the few OTR companies that recruit from my area. I faxed an application yesterday ( 2/22/08 ) and should know something by the first part of next week. ( 2/25/08 ) Everything I've read so far seems okay. I haven't seen many red flags myself, but unless it's something obvious, I'm really not sure I'd recognize an issue anyway. How is their equipment and repair schedule? That's part is important to me. Down time isn't as big of a concern (not that isn't important), as the safety factor. Their freight is supposed to be 100% no touch. I know that may seem desirable, but I've read that it can and does create rather long periods of down-time waiting for a reciever to load and unload. I don't know if friendly service with a smile on the drivers end can affect that or not. Seems like it wouldn't hurt.

They try as hard as they can to have 100% no touch as a help to there driver's, but If a driver chooses to unload, then just get with your dispatcher and let him know thats what your doing. There is a bit of pay for it. Most of there shippers and recievers however have rules against it however.

I was wondering why these guys have such a foul reputation and asked the recruiter if helping unload the truck would make them appreciate the drivers more. The recruiter said the same thing you said:
