Nov 9 - Orientation Day 1
Spent most of the morning at a local Dr's office with DOT physical and drug screen. No biggie...dang, I need to lose some weight!
After that we headed over to an old house that the company owns (which is right out back of the Elm Springs HQ & terminal). Certainly nothing fancy but adequate.
Paperwork, etc. Watched several videos. Local store (walking distance) provides lunch. Afternoon...more videos...you know the ones...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
A little unexpected bonus...at least they handed us a $10 bill to help offset (or totally pay) the cost of our dinner tonight. Small but wasn't expecting it.
Sorry, nothing more exciting to report about today. According to the schedule, we'll do our road tests tomorrow. Looking forward to getting behind the wheel again and this time, experiencing the overwhelming excitement and exhilaration of an autoshift trans. WooHoo!!! NOT! Oh well, I am sure that I will be glad that I have auto more often than not.
More tomorrow.

Yeah, my oldest son, although currently in the Philippines (Olongapo Mission) on a 2 year mission, is a sophomore at BYU. -
7AM start...brief PTI discussion around one of their training rigs and then out on the road for a pretty brief road test.
Pretty uneventful really. 3 of us (two experienced guys and me) in our truck. 2 more in another (total of 5 in orientation). Drove out a few miles, made a few turns, and came back. I guess they have to do it but there were very few comments made to any of us, so it was pretty much just checking a box on his orientation list.
Back to the classroom, more videos, lunch and then more videos.
Tomorrow, more videos, meet the office folks and maintenance guys and then I suppose we will meet our trainers and head out on the big road.
Then 10,000 miles w/trainer and a truck assignment.
See ya in maybe 24 hours or so?Master Jack and jtrnr1951 Thank this. -
