After you get them all moving and working.

Spray them down with motorcycle chain lube. You can find it in almost any parts store. One brand is PJ1.

It has a mild penetrating oil as well as a water resistant grease blend. It is designed not to "fly", in other words it sticks to what you spray it on.

A little goes along way too.

I usually give shot to each ratchet before loading. Also use it on binders. Ball/socket joints, pivot points, threaded areas as well as the ratchet palls.

If you have sliding winches....It works pretty well on the slider rails too.

Spraying the rail is great for collecting road dirt.

Technically if you heat up the winch you probably will change it's metallurgical properties, but it's a co. trailer so light 'er up WGAF!

Hold it - it's co. trailer, call maintenance, it's not your problem.

They still make PJ1? I still have an old can. I use it for all my hinges.

Dont spray them with anything! If they are sliders you'll regret doing so BIG TIME!

At most use a drop of oil and work them with your fingers, and use them. Theyll back to good working condition in no time.

It is a co. Trailer, but I'm under it empty at home and if I don't do it I'm potentially going to have a problem loading. It's just the latches on 5 of them that are stuck up, but 4 of them are right in a row so you can see where that presents a problem. I'll probably only have the trailer a week or so, but I still need it functional. It's actually a brand new East flatbed trailer not sure why the winches are already rusted, but you know these company guys don't maintain equipment. I keep my ratchet binders clean and lubricates, even though I get crappy ones from relays, I just clean them up too. The other guys not going to do it, but at least they'll work decent while I have them.

Like some others have said, I would just go buy a can of PB Blaster and spray them. After a few hours of soaking they should move freely. If not, then douse them again and see if it helps. If not, then swing by the company shop next time and get new ones.
