Different application but I usually run one on the front, one on the rear. Except the service truck which only has the front one...

I've got 14 on one side. I think. Cant remember and its 20 outside so I'm not jumping out to look.
ford06 Thanks this. -
I have 12 down each side. I’ve only used the 1 side a few times but was sure glad I had the option. When I order a new trailer it’ll be set up the same way. Only difference will be it’ll not have the pain in the backside double L track.
-
Which style would you prefer?
I’ve had several- while double L has some drawbacks, the others I had had more drawbacks for me.SAR Thanks this. -
14- drive side- used them all maybe a dozen times on this wagon. typical backhaul loads that eat up the entire trailer like insulation panels or rolled roofing.

At Melton it’s anywhere from 8 to 10 per side on their 53’ flats...
At my new company it seems to be varely widely. The flats seem to have 12-15 on the driver side while the passenger will have 8 to 10...
Our steps normally have 4 on the upper deck, 2 per side, and then 5 or 6 on the lower before the first axle, 1 or 2 in the middle unless the rear slides in which case you have none, and 1 per side at the rear....
I’ve had loads at Melton where I’ll throw straps for every winch and still grab 2 or 3 4” portables and one or two 2” portables... those loads were few and far in between though.
I wouldn’t yank a flat with less than 6 winches per side. Step decks seem to be a little more dependent on the freight. I haven’t pulled them enough to really have issues. The biggest issue I’ve had with steps is the space above the tires. Can’t attach or throw straps at the rail so certain freight can be a bit tricky to secure comfortably...
