I had thought of that once but decided against it not being sure what each. state's reg's would be. I got stopped once in my car for having an old high school cap & gown tassel hanging from my rearview mirror.
Now.I twist my windshield visor over to the left window to shield the sun's rays, try it.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
Confirmed verbally by Missouri State policeman who does truck inspections. 70% it is.
-
FYI I had the windshield on my car replaced and the tech told me there is an index line below which tinting is not permitted....he said my old windshield was tinted a few inches below the mark. It was that way when I bought it in St. Louis.
Back to the op.
The above truck regs say you may only tint to the immediate right or left of the driver....that is not clear to me as what that means.... Does it mean you could only tint the wraparound portion of the windshield? This reg is confusing to me. -
didnt read all the posts but what is legal in one state isnt always in the next. my brother got in trouble for his tinted windows. they made him remove his tint right then and there
-
When it comes to commercial vehicles, we fall under fmcsa regs. And they say nothing more than 70%
-
(d) Coloring or tinting of windshields and windows. Coloring or tinting of windshields and the windows to the immediate right and left of the driver is allowed, provided the parallel luminous transmittance through the colored or tinted glazing is not less than 70 percent of the light at normal incidence in those portions of the windshield or windows which are marked as having a parallel luminous transmittance of not less than 70 percent. The transmittance restriction does not apply to other windows on the commercial motor vehicle.
i get that. but in the state of alabama, they didnt allow even that.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -
The regs say nothing less than 70% light transmitted through the glass....or nothing more than a 39% tint. Just clarifying.
-
Oh really? If that's true I'll be getting mine done. 39% is worth putting on
-
Your allowed 70% which doesn't sound like much but that's still reducing light transmission by 30% and UV by alot more than that. If you do ceramic tint the heat transmission is way lower as well.
To protect my squeaky driving record even my personal truck is legal 50% sides in VA, which is stupid but its very noticeable believe it or not.
