Looks to me like you're thinking it the other ways round
Why is my 5% darker than my 15% on my truck?
The lower you go the darker it gets

but he use to be an inspector and owns a tint meter. Smh but yeah it's the other way around for sure.
-
I'm just trying to figure out where he got those numbers being thrown out there with such confidence like
-
to answer the original question the fine for tinted windows is 100.00 I got like 5 of them before I pulled the tint off. If they want to be an a hole which the usually are they can also give you a 250.00 fine for failure to correct violation after your first ticket.

I see what he's trying to say sort of if He thought that 100% was painted black lol. 100-23=77( that 77 meaning 77 percent of light coming through. Although that would work if the numbers were flipped.
The way it's set up makes more sense I'd say
5% meaning only 5% light getting through the window and 77% meaning of light. -
From what I understand, the windshield will protect your skin 100% from harmful sun rays. The problem is the side windows which have 0 protection from the sun. If true, the risk to the driver is really the left arm if exposed.
Does this make sense? -

the higher the tint number, the darker it gets. the less light transmittance.
5% light transmittance means 95% tint. so yes it's darker then your 15% light transmittance and 85% tint.
you don't have 5% tinted windows, they're stock with 23% to start out with. allowing 77% light TRANSMITTANCE through the window.
i know it's a hard concept for you NON certified people that have never worked with a light meter on a daily basis to figure out. your not the only people that have a hard time with the concept at first.
5% tint is darker then 15% tint. so your 5% tint is allowing 95% light to transmit through. but it's darker then your 15% tint which only allows 85% light to transmit through. so, how does darker allow more light to transmit? cuz THAT'S what you guys are thinking.
it's not 5% tint. it's 95% tint. only allowing 5% light to transmit.
15% tint is actually 85% tint only allowing 15% light to transmit.
what your calling 5% and 15% is NOT tint %. IT'S light transmittance %. your tint is 95% and 85%.Guf, Pumpkin Oval Head, truckon and 1 other person Thank this. -
Conceptually you are right right but that is not the way it is marketed or sold.
The dark limo tint is sold as 5%
Light tint is sold as 70%
Yes those number represent the light transmittance but they refer to them that way.
Call any tint shop and tell them want 5% tint and you will get the limo dark stuff that allows 5% to pass not a super light tint that allows 95% to pass.Badmon, Canned Spam and S M D Thank this.
