i don't know what the tint shops are calling or how they're selling. i've never bought.

if that's how they're calling it. then we're both right from our idea.

i can only say how it was worded and taught with the highway patrol. they're the ones that do the teaching and the classes and give us the license to be certified for inspections. they oversee the entire state safety inspection program.

their teaching is light transmittance. 5% transmittance means 95% darkness.

it's confusing, at first, i thought like you guys did in the beginning. untill one day, the shop i was working at, got their license suspended 30 days. from a safety certified mechanic not doing his job and wrongfully passed a car sold through a used car dealership.

We always went with the other measurement for example when I tinted my truck front windows to match back I went with 20% which blocks 80% of light

    70% transmittance is the regulation.

If we do a DOT inspection on your vehicle and measure your tint (we have the meters), you could be cited for anything under 70% transmittance. Citation would have a fine attached to it, violation on DOT inspection would have CSA points attached to it.

I have seen 2 or 3 waivers from FMCSA for certain medical conditions.

    FYI - my $.02

Wow! To deep for me and I can not answer that tent question. I will just through in my two cents worth from experience and hope that's OK. As having cancer spots removed, from the left side of my face, I was told to use sun screen every day. I was asked if I spend a lot of time in the sun because with dark hair and brown eyes this is unusual. I like the tent during the day but can not tolerate it at night or maybe just the hours in between. If you pull out in front of a 4 wheeler that does not have its head lights on in these change over hours you are at risk even if you were not at fault. Injured in an accident with a big rig just call! Take care of your selves as best you see fit but thank about it.
