My SilverStar had the washer reservoir on top of the radiator. That was the bomb in the winter! You could use anything but water without worries.

I bought purple Rain-X yesterday. -30. Another month and I’ll drain reservoir and fill with this thru March.

Rain-X treatment twice directly after Blue Beacon. And use their fluid plus aerosol cleaners. That makes the glass easy to keep clean longer, even on Gulf Coast.

The bug swarms that cause everyone else to pull over, you’ll keep going (Scrubblades also a help).

Once that effect fades, some DAWN dishwashing detergent on squeegee. Let it soak. Couldn’t have made it three years in South Texas oilfield otherwise.

The Rain-X makes side glass and mirrors VERY easy to maintain.

On older trucks I’ve had to start with razor-blading every inch of the windshield. Then 0000-steel wool. Rain-X two/three apps after that makes it easier to keep up on a long-term basis. .
