Honestly I prefer WY511 and looking at their sensors.

You shouldn't need an app on your phone to have to tell you it's gonna be windy in Wyoming... :p

Cowboyrich, Qbf594 and Wasted Thyme Thank this.

If I'd been in front of almost ANYTHING on an open deck there'd be no worries. Or if there's NOTHING on an open deck....then that's really no worries LOL.
But dragging a big old parasail.... I don't have a whole lot of experience with that and that gives me a whole lot of anxiety.

I saw that this morning. I went East to Torrington yesterday to sleep. I reevaluated this morning and looked ok so I went South on 85 this morning. Otherwise I was going to either stay my holiday there or maybe run down 71 a bit more east of there.
My first Wyoming trip pulling a box. I was not very happy.

    Truckermania and Muskie Thank this.

I concur; I’ve used the windy app before and it can provide useful information but I trust the states dot more. I’ve sat in wy before waiting for the wind to die down while lightly loaded.

You can go through eastern Wyoming, Scottsbluff, and down to I-76 or wherever you're going to stay away from the mountains. Better than sitting for two days waiting for the wind to stop. That isn't possible from where you're at unless you can make it down to Douglas then US-18.

The worst winds are usually between Wheatland and Cheyenne. The winds can die down after sunset so keep an eye on the weather stations wind speeds on the Wyoming 511 app.

    So about the Wy511 app...
When it says High weather Impact ... Is that like "you will experience exhausting high alert driving"
Or is that like "if you choose to proceed you are likely an idiot"
I am less of an idiot that many about driving in snow. Born in Oswego NY, I learned to drive in New England and have lived on the side of the Adirondacks for over 10 Years. Snow doesn't scare me. Ice and wind do tho...

Leaving Ft Collins for Tacoma this afternoon...

    homeskillet and Numb Thank this.
