The only ones abusing their CDL are those that cannot seem to figure out how to fill out a log book correctly, those that don't even start their log book for the day, those that speed and mostly those that don't bother to do a proper pre-trip before starting their day and get stopped because the DOT spotted visual violations. Don't blame the companies when the majority of CSA points are the result of an inept or lazy driver.

Donna, is that you? Get rid of the ridiculous Contract garbage. These student graduates already have their CDL when they attempt to sign on. No excuse for trying to pass off your operating risks onto unsuspecting newbies.

No, this isn't Donna. It's a former driver that honored his committment and was treated as a human and not a number.

The primary issue I and several others consistently voice concerning Windy Hill is the Contract bologna. It is a trap. Regardless of human egos, newbies have very low 1 year completion rates industry wide. Thus very few companies attempt this bologna. Only the training companies that the CDL is actually acquired thru merit a contract commitment. But suckers are born everyday and Windy Hill is looking for a few.

Why should trucking companies that train have to pay the price when a trainee comes in for the sole purpose of obtaining the training and then going to drive for their dad, brother, uncle or buddy?

Two reasons: 1) First, you are paying them .29cpm (newbie money). 2) Secondly, the government subsidizes companies that hire 1st time drivers. Windy Hill is just flat out Greedy with the Contract Bologna. There are very few companies doing this. If it was OK, everyone would be doing it. Period.

Eliminate the Contract Bologna, and they might be a decent starting point for new drivers.

I take it you tried it, didn't like it and left early.
