The 4 weeks of training was alright but my trainer was a cool laid back guy . As long as they keep you moving it should go by fast .

I hear you about 4 weeks being long time. That's why I'll nvr be a trainer I like my truck to myself too much, although the 4 weeks usually goes fairly fast. The trainers USUALLY will ok you early if u prove u have experience and can be trusted on ur own.irishlad Thanks this.

I really appreciate both of your input a whole bunch , Im still debating the ordeal I think its more a financial issue than a can I get along Im laid back surfer waterman lifestyle love to talk but know when to shut it too , the money and the sleeping while another is driving is my weakness Id say more so the getting along
Ive got some other feelers out with a few megas maybe even leasing is a better option as I dont want to wait 6 months for the girlfriend to come out with me on occasion too Im even willing to pay her insurance to ride
again guys thanks for the support and info I'll be making a decision this week and if it blows the windy way I'll hope to catch up with some of you current guys on the Hill
be safe! -

wow is all I can say , I think Ive decided THANK YOU

I can't blame to much on windy for those scores . But I will say they will push you to get stuff done . So I would assume at least some of those hos violations are because of that . Unsafe driving is purely on the driver .
irishlad Thanks this. -
agreed safety is a personal responsibility , and for that Id never make it 4 weeks safely in a truck with a trainer I dont sleep well when moving , and while a great guy to get along with Im not easy to live with in that small space, mix that with 2 men unloading plants all day in the summer I have to pass on the Hill option

Very smart decision for you to do that. The only thing I have against Windy Hill is that if you quit during training, you owe them the costs of training you. Its in their contract. For experience drivers it might be a good option but inexp drivers its not. Just my .02.
KHirishlad Thanks this. -
Im experienced but would never sign such contract , if a company has to do that its indicative they have larger issues mainly retention of drivers , not suporting the non workers who cant keep the left door closed but poop happens and guys leave a company but to have that hanging over them is pure crap..
my search continues for a automatic shift company hiring out of florida central florida that is ..no on averitt trans am been there and not many others offer auto shift windly hill was worth a look and maybe a great fit for someone else just not me

They talk a good story and that's about it. You will have trouble being put into a truck, and if you piss off a dispatcher, you sit. They hold back your pay until they see fit to pay you. They will tell you they're eLog but those are only in the trainer trucks, which are the better trucks for long hauls. If you cross them, look out, because you will be cursed out. First check took 5 weeks to obtain and it was only $185. When asked why no check, was told he wasn't put into the system until the prior day, they had no intention of paying him at all. Now last check was turned in ON time, and they're saying they only got it three days ago, when it should have reached them on Monday, and today's Friday...no paycheck. Get used to that. They hire students because they figure they can steamroll you. You won't get paid the miles you run, if you get paid at all. Good luck trying to work for these people.
