“WE”? Your arse goes home every day, and you definitely don’t have to hammer through anything. What’s this “we” nonsense. I was communicating to keep you in the loop as a courtesy. Don’t make me regret being courteous.
No offense meant, hand…but this is where your travel agent learns that he can walk on you. You’re trying to be a good little employee and asking for permission to shut down for your safety. Don’t do that.

Can you repeat this for those who are hard of learning? Regardless of weather, you should touch basis with shippers and receivers. The less you rely on dispatch, the more peaceful your job becomes.

 

lol Office people won’t even be driving 2 miles down the road into work for the next several days. But they expect us to still drive across the country in this crap. That puts it in perspective.

Feb 3,2022,I had to chain it up to get out of Ft Worth.
I knew it was warmer just west of me,went about 20 miles west towards Jacksboro and got onto bare pavement,stopped and took the chains off.On a Houston to Fairbanks AK trip.

 

None taken, It's just the way I am, I like to keep people in the loop and stuff, to make sure we're on the same page. I don't know what the consequences are for not listening to dispatch, good to know people are savages out here lol!!

It’s not you listening to dispatch, it’s your trying to reason with dispatch. He knows the weather is foul…he’s just using the opportunity to get you to do stupid pet tricks and defend your decision. Don’t do that. You need to shut down, you shut down. Next thing you know, he’s going to tell you that he has Jimbo still driving and Jimbo says the roads are fine and why can’t you drive if Jimbo is still driving. All of a sudden, you find yourself doubting yourself and second guessing decisions.

This is also the reason why you contact shippers are receiving. Receiver would have told you that they won’t be in til Monday, at the same time your dispatch is telling you they will be open.

So,
1. When you catch dispatch in a lie, do you call them out?
2. Do you inform dispatch that you communicated with the receiver?

 

its been static negitive temps here going on its third week.

I've learned some drivers take great offense if you are prepared for the job.
