Road fuel is undyed; untaxed fuel, even No.2, is dyed red. We use anti gel, or buy premium fuel with it added, or use winter blend from some locations, the big chain truck stops usually just sell No. 2 even up here.

I haven't bought any kerosene in forever but it used to be clear and sold for heaters, especially the catalytic heaters. The oil fired unvented heaters used No. 1 or kerosene, interchangeably, but would smoke a little if you burned No. 2 by mistake.

Ha, a long time ago before the TSA, truckers in NY/NJ with 'friends' at the major airports would fuel up with JET-A from the aircraft refueling trucks. I loved the exhaust odor, very distinctive.

I don't know what's going on now with fuels, but in the "old days" truck stops would order winter blended fuels in wintry states only. You couldn't get a "winter blend" in the sunny south, for instance. Hence, additives that you add yourself. You can ask the truck stop manager what his blend is currently.
