I do have some more still on the camera of England sitting the wrong direction. I'll get them uploaded sometime this week.
..nice pics, I wouldn't want to drive that stretch of I-80 between Green River & Rock Springs Wy in the winter tho!
I shot this video there during the tail-end of that storm. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MhooO3MmwY
That is a "Trailer Express" trailer. Trailer (sales/lease) Company out of Grand Rapids, MI. But it could have been "towed" by anyone.
That black ice I DO NOT miss in the slightest!!!!!!!!!!!! Several yrs ago before I started driving truck I was hauling a load of life buffalo with pickup and stock trailer, going to a specialty butcher shop. Load in CO and drive straight thru to PA as much as possible. Its about 2am heading across IA on I 80 east bound. I was going maybe 55 because of the weather. When black ice got me. Just as I got the truck under control and thought wow that was a bad one, another episode of jack knife hit. I think the buffalo shifted their weight and that started it. I took up the right hand break down lane, the driving lane, the hammer lane, the left break down lane, and back again. About 3 times before I was able to get things under control. "scared the hell out of me" would be putting it midly. Come to find out later my mom had just woke up a few minutes prior to this and was saying prayers for me from her bed in KY. I have no doubt that if I had left the road on the right it would have been very nasty. There was a long drop off to the bottom on that side. On another trip thru IA in the winter in my 4 wheeler I counted around 300 cars that were in either ditch or the median. Its unbelievable how many folks can't drive. I wish they would figure it out, so MY ins rates would go down.
That POE closes, or it used, to from 2 am to 6 am. Just thought ya'll might could use that useful bit of info.
