no, wait until it blows to Nebraska

Kinda like the old joke: Why does the wind always blow in Wyoming, because Nebraska always sucks

Being from Iowa we always told that joke like this: You know why its always windy in Iowa? Because Missouri sucks and Minnesota blows.

Ran across a kid from California a couple of years ago... dressed like that. No coat, warm clothes, no sleeping bag, no real winter shoes. It was -10 in Rawlins that night, snowing and a foot on the ground, and he was turning blue in his cab. Was worried he'd get fired for idling too much.

Service your air dryer before the cold weather hits. Carry a 2 pound hammer, when not if, your brakes freeze to the drums overnight. You can crawl under the truck-trailer smack the frozen drum and drive away. When you park let the truck sit for 10 min then release the brakes and drive back and forth several feet, repeat this several times. This keeps your warm tires from melting the snow under them, then your stuck in a rut

Notice he said the DRUM not the brake SHOES.

You will see more people smoking tires, and tearing up drivelines because they did not do this.

When you hook onto a different trailer, pull away slowly, and do a little side-to-side turn. Look in your mirrors and make sure those tires are turning, and you don't have frozen brakes! That's before you find out with a blown tire!!

It's this simple....slow down. Don't over drive your abilities. Know your limits and don't be intimidated by anyone else.

The wind is a big player in winter too and can easily blow a truck over. CO has these storms too, husband saw 5 trucks blown over heading out of Denver last year; he waited an extra day before he moved.
