There are more people in the country wanting to live near the ocean, warm weather, no income taxes than there are jobs in Florida. Florida manufactures very little compared to other states. So the jobs are often over-supplied with applicants and the pay is lower than other states. There's an endless supply of low-wage service & hospitality jobs because they are low-paying and dealing with idiots. I spent 7 years in the state for college and "my first career". I don't care if I ever see the ocean or experience temps above 50 F ever again. It's a matter of preference. Everyone has their preferences. If forced to live some place, I would prefer to be forced to live in FL than maybe 15 other states. FL Governor is my choice to lead the country some day.

you got a corn cob stuck straight up your ### . Maybe you aint needed ever thought of that .

 

Plumbing pays well but you have to eat #### for the first 6-8yrs till you have good exp and the licensing to go out on your own . Have good medical insurance cause its hard on ya .

 

So basically you'll make peanuts the first 8 years of career before you can make decent pay, crazy...

 

there is alot to learn especially in service repair , that's where the money is . 2million liability plus 500k cash bond gets your foot into good commercial customers along with hitting the f'loor running at 2am when they call with emergency.

 

The pay goes up a fair bit after you pass the journeyman test . Starting out 35 yrs ago minimum wage .

Mostly memory , reading a tape measure and blueprints is a must .
