If money is tight, go with Roehl. They pay students $500.00 weekly while in class.
When the economy is bad, pull reefers because people still have to eat. I've pulled reefers most of my career and when the economy took a dive, I never slowed down and kept the wheels turning and burning.
Get your obligation completed with Roehl refrigerated, then switch to another outfit if you think the money isn't what you want. Maybe a company like Bottomley Enterprises that runs back and forth to the west coast, non-stop.

Problem is, I don't have a clue what their pay scale is. I can't find ANY information on their "your choice pay plan" scheme or whatever the they call it. Seems more like "their choice".
If I gotta start there then that's what I'll do, but experience has taught me to be very cynical when it comes to that kind of nonsense. -
Trucking companies pay by the mile + accessorial pays. It's hard to determine what you'll make weekly. Every paycheck will be different, depending on the miles driven and accessorial pays with each load.
Prime Inc. has good pay for their cdl student drivers, plus you can draw advances on future pays, I think up to $200.00 weekly if you need it.
Take a look at these that have their own cdl school::
Prime Inc.
Wil-Trans
Jim Palmer Trucking
All 3 have similar pay scales and I think about the same as Millis Transfer. -
Millis Transfer is up to.43cpm for students for all dispatched miles for the truck. But the first three weeks are unpaidChinatown Thanks this.
-
Miles are not a problem at Millis lol. Its winter things slow down every year at this time, but you wont be sitting often.
-
Well, I just got backed into tonight by a guy who was trying to make space so a fuel truck could turn into the gas station on the opposite side of the road. Obviously not my fault, but I'm supposed to head off to Millis for training next month. Man I hope this doesn't screw things up!!
-
I don't know why it would screw anything up. I'd say you're good. -
So Millis drivers - about hometime. What frequency and for how long? What's typical in that regard?
-
Really just depends on your dispatcher. There is something in the handbook that says 1 day for every 7 worked or something like that, but I've never been held to that. I usee to run 2 full weeks then go home on weds come back out the following Tuesday with nothing ever said. I know guys who go home every other week for 3 days or so. Prove you can do the job well when you're out and nothing will be said about your hometime.ImTakinHalf Thanks this.
