Wittle Brothers run new trucks new building but who do you think pays for this Watch out for the untold like how many LTL you will get each week it has gone from 7-8 to 3-4 at $55.00 a stop that is cutting into your pay
Next they run out of LTL and you get truckloads at $15.00 a stop now who got cheated but they are only 1 stop u figure 4 stps at 55 =120.00 or 3 stops truckload at 15.00 25.00 and 35.00=75.00
Do you like to sit alot well welcome to Witte they send you with an outbound load and then 22 hours later they say head toward ---- just quick enough to avoid paying layover pay
Then if you were to mention possibly going else where there safety director and her flunky staff plaster your DAC 1 driver left his truck in the secured downtown yard when he quit and Marilyn Barnes put on his report he abandoned his vehicle, look at that new employer what a bum to leave a company vehicle on a secured company lot ABANDONED
If any of this appeals to you just call they will tell alot more that they will do for you and yes the 1st month or so they will but guess what you soon become like all other drivers locked and not new so you take the garbage they dish out or you leave with a pretty DAC

I know for a fact there is no bonus at the end of the year right now they are 2 quarter behind in the fuel bonus that is 6 months and they think they will just discontinue this since it is so messed up
As for the performance bonus it is decided on by the safety director and if your nose is brown you will get a bonus here but only if you dont mind a foul smell with your bonus it is also 6 months behind
The amount of pay is decreasing daily because they are not getting the LTL runs that they thought they could and to hear them talk it is the fault of the car part carriers who have turned refer can you imagine
If you want to have insurance make sure that only 1 person in your family works here cause none of our teams are allowed insurance coverage for both members so 1 of the teams is covered fully while the other can not have disability or life insurance they can pay 45.oo family coverage for health insurrance rather then 10 each and both have it all that is 1400.00 extra each year they pay lucky dogs
and please if you choose to look at Witte Brotheres Exchange in Troy Mo ask questions of other drivers on the road be specific and dont take any answer there is an answer to every question believe me when you leave Marilyn Barnes and her flunky safety dept will tell all to your DAC
Guess what I still work here this is all true
TST65 Thanks this. -
you have mistaken what they told u on the raise if you dont make the 47 cent a mile during the yr they will give you the difference at the end of the year but believe me this doesnt happen often and if you have turned down a load or ask for any time off then it is your fault you didnt meet your 47 cent per mile

I have been with Witte Bros for over 3 years. This is the second trucking company that I have worked for in my 8 years and it is better than I could have hoped for. The other poster that said she still worked here, does not work here anymore, but her team partner still does. If it is as bad as they say then why does he still work here?
The performance bonus is not 6 months behind and it is not hard to get either, you simply have to be on time for appointments and not run into anything or get any tickets...basically just do your job! I get the bonus every quarter and dont do anything special to get it.
As far as the .47 goes, that is your average pay for the first year, if you dont average it then they give you the difference. They dont have to give this often since most of us average over .50 cpm.
We haul mostly LTL outbound from Troy and either LTL or truckload back to Troy. We are expected to unload our LTL stops that average around 4-5 stops. Some of these stops unload themselves and the driver does not touch that freight. Sometimes we just have to take a layer or so off of a pallet. The majority of the unloading is very easy. For our stops we get $15-1st, $25-2nd, $35-3rd, $45-4th, $55-5th and $55 for each additional on our LTL and on the truckload it goes $15, $25, $35 the $35 for each additional. We do get paid for every stop unlike most carriers.
Our safety staff as well as our dispatch and fleet managers are there to help the driver. We are not talked down to and are not expected to break every law in the books to get our loads to their destination.
Just remember, some drivers like to complain about everything no matter how good they have it. OLDTHENDIRT is one of those drivers. -
If you work at Witte Brothers you are aware that what I have said are facts this is not complaing
Some of what you have said is true the pay is right and the amount of stops are average
My husband and I both have left Witte Brothers and it is because we chose to
If this is a good match for you in 8 yrs that is good , all i said was ask questions of others there is always an answer ask how these drivers are making /50 cent a mile what is it that they do to earn that
I work for another company that isnt trucking related and am happy and it is good to know that you are also happy not everyone can drive a truck
I do still have friends there and do still hear what goes on we have been gone from there awhile now but it is still the same unmet promises -
I have worked for Witte for almost a year now I live around 130 miles from the main terminal. They decided last week that starting in January 2008 they were going to start charging me to drive their trucks. Not just for the miles I come home but for every mile that we drive through out the entire week. I thought they were supposed to pay me to drive for them not me pay them to let me drive....
-
I've wondered when this day would come--high cost of juice causing a company to charge its drivers to drive bobtail while on the road or even go a little out of route to get home while pulling a wagon.
Next they'll charge you to idle overnight. If that happens, I guess guys can team up in trucks to sleep. They can split the cost 50-50. Maybe about ten drivers can cram themselves into an idling truck Mexican-style to sleep nights away in comfort. 10% of about 20 bucks a night sound right? -
Turbo Trucker you are slightly confused by this bonus money they do not pay .14 cents a mile at the end of the year. If you have not run enough miles and had enough drops to average .47 cents a mile at the end of the year if you ask they will cut you a check. This is for your 1st year only and it only applies to drivers with experience
-
Don't worry before long they wont even cut you that bonous check they will just say you used it up bobtailing around. Wonder if the local drivers will get charged to take their rigs to lunch?? Wait I forget us OTR drivers get told to do their work too.
-
As far as I know, they have always charged for you to take the truck home. It has gone up to cover the price of the fuel. If you think that the amount that you are being charged is above what the cost of the fuel is for you to go home then you should speak with mgmt. I know they are not intending to overcharge drivers who take their trucks home, only recoup the cost of the fuel.
If it is costing too much it may be worth investing in a cheap car to drive back and forth. It does have the added benefit of not having to wait for work to be done by the shop on your truck so that you can head straight home when you get in.
